One thing I like to do as practice is to use sketchdaily to find a good ref and do a quick still life / pose sketch. Then I take an OC I think has a personality that fits the sketch and try to draw them in the same pose. The bottom half is a sketch of the original pose and the top half is my oc Adam Rosa in the same pose.

1: A page in a sketchbook broken into two halves. The bottom half is a man falling backwards as he holds two guns up. The top of his head is facing the viewer and covered by a hood. The top image is my OC Adam Rosa in the same pose, an effeminate Black man in a skirt. Adam is missing his left arm, however, so he has only one gun and it resembles something more akin to a water gun firing round projectiles or drops. Both drawings are done just in pencil.
