Traditional Art – Douglysium

1: A torn piece of paper that is trisected into 3 “frames” by masking tape. The leftmost piece is a simple watercolor painting of a glowing gem with an emerald. The gem is a shade of pink with its lines of its cut painted with green. The gem is giving off a pink glow and the background is green. The center image is a painting of a gem with a brilliant cut. The background is pink while the gem, and the sparkles around it, are green. The lines of the gem’s cut are done in pink. The right most image is two pink spheres hurdling in some direction. The background is orange and the two spheres have a green trail, similar to a comment, to imply their trajectory.

1: An image etched onto a plate of copper. Although hard to make out, it is supposed to be a cauldron with the letters CU emblazoned on it along with the number 29. Within the cauldron is a spool of wires wound around something containing bubbling molten metal releasing smoke. From this pool something that resembles a cross between a tree and wires is sprouting out, at the end of which are various forms of electronics. Leaning on the cauldron is a pickaxe and at the bottom of the cauldron there is a crack from which molten metal resembling the shape of roots leaks into the ground, or metal ore being sucked into the cauldron from the ore in the stratified ground. On either side of the cauldron there are waves resembling depictions of signals radiating outward. In the background there are poles holding up power cables.

Project 3: “Coppered Forge”

1: An image of a building with a skeleton from the torso up with cross arms in the reflection of its windows, or inside the building looking out through the windows depending on the perspective, emerging from an explosion that also mimics a cotton plant. The explosion itself has a stem leading to a bomb that is split open like a seed embedded in some sort of filled with bodies of human silhouettes that is spilling blood. The image is roughly colored with ink, while black ink forms lines. The building is blue, the explosion red, yellow and orange, while the bomb, and area surrounding it, is red. The blood leaking out of the area containing the bomb is also red.

Project 2: “Violent Growth”

1: Ink in a linocut carving depicting a modern building being constructed around an older Greek inspired building that itself has an old mountain jutting through it. The structures all sit on an island and are all being eroded by wind and water. Cranes and structures depict the modern building constantly being built up and repaired as it is eroded by time. The sky has the clouds of a storm and streaks meant to resemble stars quickly moving through a night sky, as if you are watching footage being sped up.

My Fate OC Demon Saber (Yasuke) with one foot in front of the other as she unsheaths the wakizashi in her left hand. Her right hand hangs at her side, adorned with a spikey brass knuckle while a piece of grass sticks out of her mouth. In this piece she is wearing what I believe to be some type of kimono (I’m not 100% because I was just drawing what the model was wearing in the original ref). Demon Saber is a tall Black woman with thick eyebrows and short dreads that resemble the “Killmonger cut” as some would put it.

1: A page in a sketchbook broken into two halves. The bottom half is a man falling backwards as he holds two guns up. The top of his head is facing the viewer and covered by a hood. The top image is my OC Adam Rosa in the same pose, an effeminate Black man in a skirt. Adam is missing his left arm, however, so he has only one gun and it resembles something more akin to a water gun firing round projectiles or drops. Both drawings are done just in pencil.

Her hair is usually in a ponytail but here it falls in front of her face. The bottom left image is Lily eating a cake while looking / thinking judgementally at something off frame. Perhaps she is just reacting to the taste of the food. Lily is a tall Black woman with wide shoulders and a long face. The final drawing is Demon Saber (a Black samurai) getting ready to unsheath her sword. Her back faces the camera and fire rages in the background.
