01 “Filter”

A drawing of a Black woman jumping to the left with her torso and head angled at the viewer. She has braids done in two messy buns and some of the braids on her head hang down. Two of the braids on the front have bubbles at the end and Janiya’s eyes are looking towards the viewer while she blows a bubble out of pink bubble gum. In her right hand placed in front of her chest is a small package of gumballs. Janiya is wearing a light blue top and pink baggy pants with white shoes. Her left shoe has pink laces and her right shoe light blue ones.

The first image is a ref of John’s front side. In contrast to what someone may first expect, he is a muscular but squat man that resembles a dwarf. He has a curly black beard full of rubble and metal shavings with brown skin and silver freckles like flecks of metal on his face. On his head is a mining helmet, complete with a flashlight, covering a hairline that is receding and turning a shade of white from stress. He is wearing a mining uniform that is orange with blue overalls. The sleeves on the arms and legs of the uniform have yellow reflective stripes for visibility. The overalls have front pockets with dynamite in one and rail spikes in the other. He wears brown steel-toed boots as well as a belt with extra pockets. In his right hand is a hammer with a strange head and his left hand is on a pickaxe at his hip. His hammer’s head has a strange train wheel-like design on its sides with pipes sticking out of the wheels’ center and pointing up. Its handle is wooden and more worn than the head. John’s hands have visible hair on the back of them and he has wide tired looking bloodshot eyes with bags under them. He is clearly being overworked and stressed while wearing an oversized backpack on his back. In the bottom left of the image is John’s color palette for reference.

My OC Kazumaki, a black woman with gray hair done up in dreads resembling a tornado twisting through the air as she flies towards the camera making a stereotypical “crazy” expression as her black tongue hangs out of her mouth, which is filled with sharp teeth. She is using the pointer finger of her right hand to make a swirling motion next to her temple and her left hand is holding a wooden crutch. A scarf resembling clouds billows around her and she wears clothes with baggy torn up sleeves that look like they were stitched onto a lighter gray shirt. Her dress twirls with her spinning and its edges end in rags. She wears stockings and pointy gray “Christmas elf” type shoes with bells at their tips. She is also wearing golden earrings that resemble a windchime and as she spins through the air a destructive whirl of wind follows, bending and breaking trees as the ground is torn asunder with debris flying into the air. Same as the last image except without the whirl of wind and shading.

They have one hand on the ground with both feet in the air while one hand holds their left leg as their body is angled almost parallel to the ground, with their lower body being slightly raised up. A red glint shines from the right eye hole of the helmet and a sparkle shines from their left foot. Movement lines along with a cloud of dust allude to the motion used to kick their lower body off the ground. The environment looks like old ruins with a brown rustic ground and the shapes of buildings in the background.

The jacket is lined with white fur and she wears brown gloves with white fur lining. She happily swings a watering can to her right as water sprinkles down on some bushes and plants. In the background there are two plants hanging from an unseen structure and a white arch behind him followed by a rocky path and a flat plane with more plants in the distance

Sweatybird’s OC Apollo thinking about Eris. Eris is seen inside a thought bubble but she has the body of a dove from the chin down giving her the face of a Black woman with freckles and braids but the body of white dove with a yellow chest, pink feet tips, and a black bow around whatever is the equivalent of her waist. Apollo is a sickly tan skinned man with a red scarf around his neck, and a long sleeve red shirt with a darker red no-sleeve vest that has gold accents / trim. Various question marks float around his head while he looks up at the thought bubble he is imagining. He has brown spikey hair that’s slicked back, red earrings and two piercings on his right brow. The background is a simplified blue sky and some greenery.
